Brooklyn noise pop duo Sleigh Bells are taking action over what they believe to be unauthorised samples of their music on a Demi Lovato bonus album track.

Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller have accused Lovato of sampling ‘Infinity Guitars’ and ‘Riot Rhythm’ from their 2010 debut album Treats on her song ‘Stars’.

Sleigh Bells claim they were not contacted about the apparent use of their music and informed Lovato: “Gotta clear those.”

Producers of the Lovato track, which is a bonus song on the deluxe edition of her new album Confident, denied any sample use.

Carl Falk and Rami told Rolling Stone: “We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato’s song ‘Stars’. Demi was not involved with the production. She only wrote top line.”

However, Sleigh Bells are not backing down and have issued a statement of intent via their press representative:

“I can confirm that the band feels their music has been sampled without proper clearance and are seeking all available remedies with Island Records [Demi Lovato’s label].”
